We’ve started TNR on a brand new colony! This week, we trapped 5 kitties from a 40+ cat colony we just discovered. For anyone new here, here’s how TNR works and why we do it: ✅ All cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before being returned. ✅ They go right back to the exact location where they were caught. ✅ Each colony has dedicated caretakers who feed them daily, provide fresh water, and alert us if a cat ever needs medical attention. ✅ Microchips let us know if a cat ends up in harm’s way, if that happened, we’d deem the area unsafe for future returns. (So far, this has never happened!) These cats are NOT harming endangered wildlife. We’re in the middle of a very urban city, not a wildlife reserve. If anyone is worried about animals here, maybe start by asking why humans built a giant city in the middle of their habitat. These feral cats exist because of human negligence: people not spaying/neutering, or abandoning cats to live outside. Why not tame them all? These cats are feral, not socialized to humans, and taming every single one is unrealistic. In the time it takes to socialize one feral cat, we could save dozens of adoptable, friendly cats from shelters. TNR prevents suffering and saves lives.
