Published in the Translational Psychiatrity, 5g creatine monohydrate to cognitive-behavioural therapy was found in a well-controlled (rDBPC) trial to reduce depression 67% compared to 32% reduction with cognitive-behavioural therapy alone (Sherpa et al, 2025). It is worth noting that at baseline, the subjects had moderate-to-severe depression [ie, 17.7 with 15-19 reflecting mod-to-sev depression on Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ)], but by the end of the 8wk trial, those ingesting creatine and undergoing cognitive-behavioural therapy averaged just 5.8 on PHQ, which means they barely had depression by the end of the study since inclusion criteria was >5, since according to PHQ mild depression ranges from 5-9.
