I filmed this the morning I found out our new home and community that we were days away from moving into had burned to the ground in the Palisades Fire. The pain, fear, & devastation was something I have never experienced yet like hundreds of other parents, I had to get in the car and pick my sweet daughter up from school like nothing had happened and our world was still happily put together. Being strong for your kids when all you feel is weakness is hard but we muster up the strength from somewhere to protect them at all costs. This is by far the most difficult parenting challenge I have yet to experience. Seeing my daughter work through the confusion and sadness of not being “home” rips me apart but I know we are still the lucky ones out of every family impacted by the fires. I hate filming myself cry but I did so to look back on my rock bottom at some point when life makes sense again or for anyone who’s feeling exactly what I’m feeling right now.
