✨Magical Harry Potter Hogwarts day for my kids✨ AD Here’s how you can recreate this at home. You can totally make this your own & tailor it to meet your budget: 1. Owl Post Invitations 📜 tea-stained paper, torn at the edges & tied with string. If you have a wax seal kit that would be 10/10 too! 2.Imagine travelling from Platform 9¾ 🚂 We were kindly sent the @LEGO Hogwarts Express so this was the perfect activity for my 8-year-old & we were both obsessed with the details! You could build a train using cardboard boxes or let them design their own train tickets using gold paper. 3. Try on the sorting hat 🧙‍♂ If you don’t have the Spinmaster Sorting Hat you could just pretend by using a colander & place a coloured token inside to “sort” them into houses. It’s all about imaginative play! 4. Mini Magical Classes 🧪 We used the @Miniverse MGA Honeydukes set as a potions class – it feels like your making magic. Oscar particularly enjoyed the mini resin ‘chocolate frogs’. Here’s some more ideas: 🧪Potions: Mix vinegar + baking soda + food colouring (aka fizzing elixirs!) 🍃 Herbology: Plant a tiny seed in a cup (magical beans = jelly beans!) 🪄 Charms: Learn a few simple magic tricks or make wands from sticks & tape 🐉 Care of Magical Creatures: Hatch chocolate dragon eggs (freeze chocolates in balloons, peel & reveal) 5. Lunch will be ‘feast in the Great Hall’ 🕯 Depending on how extra you’re feeling you could decorate the table with floating candles (using LED tea lights + string) & gold plates! 6. July 31st is Harry’s Birthday so of course baking his iconic cake 🎂 This is a wonky chocolate cake with “Happee Birthdae Harry” in green icing. You could even play a game of pass the parcel to celebrate – the kids loved opening their @Spin Master HP Bitzee where you can unlock 20 digital characters including Harry, Hermione, Ron, Hedwig & Dobby. 8. Quidditch at the Park 🏆 Use hula hoops on sticks as goalposts & play a Muggle-friendly version of Quidditch. Make it silly & fun - no flying required! @Harry Potter @Warner Bros. We didn’t go to therapy because things were awful. We were just stuck in the same frustrating loop; snapping, shutting down, misreading each other. It's called balance! I didn't realise this was even a tradition until I mentioned it to a friend and she said, oh that's so cute, I'm pinching that tradition! But since Oscar started school we've done this and it actually makes sense for so many reasons. 1. branded cereal can be pricey so we buy it less frequently 2. my kids are quicky picky so they don't eat great at school but they've always been happy eating a more substantial and nutritionally dense meals like porridge & baked oats for breakfast so I know they're fuelled up for the day 3. because some foods are every day foods, some are 'sometimes' foods and some are 'rarely' foods. There's no good or bad and nothing is banned, this is our version of balance 4. it's a bit of fun - the kids enjoy picking it out & I enjoy a day off from the monotony of weekday breakfasts too!
